Parking at the Rosie

Hi,
I'm expecting my first baby at the moment, and am booked in at the Rosie - however, they aren't offering tours just now due to the swine flu, so although we were in two minds about whether to bother with a tour, it looks like the decision has been taken out of our hands!

That said, my other half has started to panic about dropping off points and parking there - I've been getting to all appointments by public transport, but this is unlikely to be an option when i'm in labour! Does anyone have any advice? We're planning a trial run some weekend soon (we have 5 weekends left before baby is due, so not cutting it fine at all!), but would be good to have some idea of where to do drop off and where to park when the actual day comes

thanks in advance!

You can drop off straight outside and there are some "emergency" free spaces. For visitors there is a car park directly behind the Rosie and new building. About a 4 minute walk to the wards. HTH.

As Claire says, there's a drop off point right outside the front. Clearly marked as such and you can stay for about 20mins (though DH stretched that to about 5 hours from 2am-7am whilst DD was born on a cold December night just after Christmas).

If you are in labour "out of hours" you just ring the bell by the main doors and a nice porter will let you in. Delivery ward is upstairs (2nd floor IIRC).

Once you are safely on the delivery ward your other half can move the car to the car park. You can buy some sort of pass which then allows unlimited parking whilst he comes and goes (assuming you stay in post delivery).

Good luck
