Frasers Santa... how to do it

it's pretty good in my not even slightly vast experience, you book in advance, they send kids in groups of 8.

so kid and parent goes into a 'sleigh'... you want to be last off the sleigh, so that you're at the back for the walk through the elf village.

when that's finished you are led into a room that looks liek santa's going to be there, so all the parents are muscling in, desperate to get a seat. if you're last, there's no seat, which seems but means you are in POLE POSITION when the elf opens the bookcase to reveal the real room where santa is. you walk in first, you get seen first. if you're last, you'll have to wait in a sweaty, dark room for half an hour while everyone else gets done. arf. doesn't pay to push, ladies.

I was there at the weekend. Midway in the queue in the sweaty dark room. Did you DC get a Hamley's teddy too?

no, santa directed her to one pile of presents but she took one from the older boys' pile and ended off with some glowing star things to put on her bed. i got my photo taken with santa too becasue she wouldn't go anywhere near him. he held dd2, so i got good value.

did you think it was good? i thought it was okay, that toy probably would cost £4.50 from Hamleys i reckoned.

Was a bit disappointed TBH. DS also wouldn't go anywhere near Santa so photo is of DS to extreme left of photo and Santa to extreme right, with part of DH head in the background!
Thought the freezes on the walls of the sleigh ride were a bit hand knitted, although it quietened DS down for at least 10 seconds.
Agreed that the toy wouldn't have been particularly cheap if bought from Hamley's, so probably better than most of the toys in other grottos.

Noticed part of fee goes to Yorkhill which was a nice touch. Not sure if other grottos do that as this was my first time.

Have heard that Mrs Claus at Pollok House is supposed to be good. Might try that next year.

We went last year and we just turned up and booked for when it opened. Santa was late that day, so we got the photo for free. The gift was a set of cars with a £1.00 sticker on it, lol. It was good, and the best one we've been to out of 3. 2 years ago we went to a dodgy one at Loch lomond shores and this year we went to the George Square one, which was ok, but the photo was blurred!
