I'm a first time mum and my son is nearly 6 months old. I'm trying to find a local mother & baby group or coffee morning (something along those lines)where I can meet up with other mums for a chat. Does anyone know of any? 15 years ago I worked as a nanny and they were everywhere, now I can't seem to find any!

Hi Trudy3,
welcome and congrats on the birth of your son. There are loads of groups. Whereabout are you in Bexley? All the sure start centers are great and open to anyone living in the borough. You can just go along to the Mum & baby group which are held on different days in all the centers, also they offer baby massage classes and baby yoga classes as well a loads more and they're all free which is great!. I too have a 6 month old son and would have been lost without my groups!

There is a weekly NCT coffee morning in Bexleyheath held at the church Geddes Place. It's ever Wed morning 10am - 11.30.

Also if you feel energetic there is a weekly exercise class pushy mums held in Danson Park every Thursday. Great way to get out and have a workout at the same time cost £5.

HTH

Hi Hogiabach,

I live near The Pantiles. I've been meaning to try the Mother & Baby group at St. Augustines for a few weeks now, but I don't quite seem to be able to get myself together in time to go!!! (we still haven't quite established a routine!)Will make a concerted effort this week though. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Trudy, I live very near to you! My kids are 9 and 6 so i don't know about toddler groups anymore but I do know that at the top of Picardy Hill in the church is a new soft play place which you might find suits you and your little boy once he gets a bit bigger. There used to be a baby and toddler group in the Baptist Church in Belvedere village and one in St Peter's Church on Pickford Lane. Check out their noticeboards. Look on netmums local for more info (sorry MN!!).

Also check out the Surestart baby swimming (Erith pool on Tuesday mornings) and probably have it at Crook Log pool too.

Hello
I hope you have found some good groups in the area? I always liked the Nursery Rhymes session at the library on a Friday morning.

My baby is now 20 months old but I found it a bit difficult to find really good things for babies in the area. I am just starting up a new baby class in the area. Baby Sensory is so much fun for mums and babies and a great way to meet people too. I have an open day on Sept 6th in Bexleyheath. Visit www.babysensory.co.uk (events) for more details.

Hi,

I'm looking for the same thing. I'm brand new to mumsnet (hello everyone!) and have a very lively 20 month old toddler and a 3 week old. We have just moved from SE London to Crayford and don't know a soul. To make matters harder, I don't have a car so am looking for groups within walking distance with the double buggy.
Any mums from Crayford who know of anywhere or fancy meeting up for a coffee?

Hello there. Have you tried the library for starters? Its up next to the old town hal, I think, about opposite McD's. That has a weekly toddler time and you can get all the local info from mums there. If you look on the Bexley Council website, under libraries, you'll be able to get a list of times.

I don't have little ones anymore and tbh, I don't live in Crayford, but I do rate the Council libraries enormously, for a free morning! I used to go to about 4 different ones during the week!

Hi K, I am pregnant, due 21 Aug. The Maypole (Bexley) Sure start centre holds a group Mondays 10-12 which is free and for mums with children under a year old. Once I have had baby, and am up to leaving the house(!) I plan on going to this..
There is also a roller stroller group on Thursdays at Central Park, Dartford (meet nr library). Think it's 9-45am £2.
I am going to look into the Danson pushchair group too!
Hope this helps.
Gem x
