hope you find me here...

foxie - sorry to hear about your dreadful worrying time with ds2 - glad to hear he is on the mend.

pc - dump your stalker NOW...You may have Johnny Depp after you come August...We went to a lovely pub on Saturday very close to where he has a house so you're bound to bump into him and he's bound to ask you out

Had a lovely weekend at the van - surprisingly little rain as well. Went shopping on Sunday and ds was in buggy shouting "Mum, Mum, Mum," and I was ignoring him so he shouted "Mother" where did he get that from? So now, all he keeps on saying is "Mum, Mother".

Am home alone this week - dh at van with LOs and I have to work .

I called in laws earlier asking if they would arrive in London in time for dd's party on Saturday and he said

  • Oh no my dear I fear another party for toddlers would drive me to drink, I have paid my dues as far as that is concerned

I really should do better today

Oh here you all are!!!

MrsR _ I will call you, I will, I will, I will...

BTW I have the DC's virus now - sore throat, aching limns, boiling hot etc. I have a really plausible excuse not to go swimming tonight

SFX are in laws not going to DDs party then?

Ah, found you all

Oh no Foxie, take it easy and look after yourself

Sfx - LOL at FIL, I suppose he may have a point

MrsR - Mr Depp is v.nice, have you met him then?!

Had a really good day, DH back later, can't wait to hear all about his survival course

Ros - sent you an email

OK then... something very odd going on with DS's left eye. Its not opening as much as the right one. Started yesterday - no obvious other signs, not swollen not bloodshot etc. Am a bit concenred and will ask Ma to take him to Doctor tomrrow. Anyone come across it?

I might have to start a thread - I'm obviously feeling more than a bit concerned.

Report
rosmerta · 27/05/2008 20:48

Kew, not come across anything like that. Does it seem painful to him at all?

Sj, I've replied to your email!

Foxie, take it easy, hope you feel better soon

Sfx, lol @ fil. Do think he has a point .

KC regarding eye imo take to the doctor with eyes it can be a number of things, best rule them out, how does he seem otherwise?

FIL made me laugh too, I guess it depends on the time they get here and hoe in the mood they might be after a long drive, but it is understandable. bless him

SJ do tell of fire making adventures, did he skin a rabbit?

foxie - hope you feel better soon.

I probably spent too much time watching CBeebies today but came across Gordon the garden gnome, voiced by Alan Titmarch.
anyway apparently the gnome central command is at Kew gardens and it was on the show, an animated aerial shot of the Palm house very amusing

Morning all

KC - best get it checked out. DS had a problem with his eyes about 5mths ago they kept flickering and he kept scrunching them up. I got this eyes tested at clinic and optician and they were fine, turns out it was when he was really tired his eyes went into involuntary spasm. It hardly ever happens now. I hope it runs out to be nothing serious for Gherkin.

Sfx - DH loved the course, they did loads of firelighting techniques even in the wet (apparently it's all in the knowhow!), built shelters and cooked up, even made a bread with fruits in a frying pan like Ray does on telly. Next time we go camping I know who's going to be doing the cooking from now on

Wet, wet, wet - think we may head to the library today

good morning all

QC hope ds is ok today

SJ it's the scouts for big boys isn't it?sounds like fun.

did anyone hear the thunderstorm last night? I was still awake at 2am and it went on until 3, then dd woke up at 4 demanding 'cuddles to sleep better in your bed'

so am glad we both slept till after 9.30

think we will stick to local shops to stretch our legs

hope everyone is well

sfxmum · 28/05/2008 10:18

isn't it just Foxie? I thought it worth mentioning

QC glad to hear, hope it all gets checked out and cleared soon

Report
rosmerta · 28/05/2008 13:04

sfx, I vaguely heard the thunderstorm but more in a 'oh thunder, dh not in bed yet, good he can deal with ds if he wakes up' kind of way!

Ds is in an awful mood today. There's a potential meltdown round every corner! We did manage to get out to the softplay which was going well until another little boy landed near him and that caused about 10mins of crying! Am hoping he'll have a long nap as I think that will improve his mood.

Report
rosmerta · 28/05/2008 13:45

crap crap crap. I think ds is starting to drop his nap & its turning him into such a nightmare.

Report
Kewcumber · 28/05/2008 13:53

I thought that too for a wek or so Ros, then he picked it back up again. MIn you now that he's going to sleep at 9.30pm and waking at 6.15am, I'm kind of hoping that he drops it again and starts sleeping longer at night!

sfxmum · 28/05/2008 14:08

I can barely remember d having naps, I think last summer she still had the odd one. I always found that time quite stressful she never slept for more than 1hr. but it takes getting used to I think.
still I know of kids 4 and over who still nap

DS1 who is 4.4 sometimes still naps in the afternoon, sometimes over an hour even, but sometimes he just has a half-hour "rest", which involves him playing with some toys on his own in bed. And he goes to bed at 7.30. DS2 usually naps for about one hour. I think you just have to put up with a bit of fretfulness for a while when they drop naps, but they'll get used to it and it will be fine again. Really! Also I usually schedule some distracting activity around fretfullness-time, like going to the supermarket which surprisingly works for us but not everyone's cup of tea, I guess.

All packed to go to Malaysia!

DS only naps a few days a week now, his sleep is pretty random. On the days he doesn't nap he's in bed early as he can't seem to last til bedtime but does at least make up the extra sleep at night time. When he does nap, he's goes to bed later. I guess in a few months time he won't nap at all. It's ok apart from the fact I still need a nap! So he goes in his cot for some 'quiet time' while I snooze

Rain woke me up but I don't recall any thunder, must've been too sleepy.

KC - Ds was about 2 when I took him to optician, he was fine as he could answer all the opticians q's e.g what can you see on this card? a boat, where is the boat on this card? etc. Test lasted about 20mins

DS got mistaken for girl again today by the greengrocer.

What to do with a punnet of blackberries? already made crumble yesterday, lacking inspiration today...?

DS is often mistaken for a girl but I think your DS looks very boyish - is your greengrocer short sighted?

It is funny as he was all dressed in blue but ok it doesn't help that he insists on pushing his pink pushchair around everywhere with him

DS1 has a nice pink and red floral hat and has been defending his right to wear pink in nursery.
