Considering a Suffolk move - please help me narrow down where!

We are literally just starting out so have zero idea of exactly WHERE. So I definitely need help.

We are planning a move in a few years so want to spend that time visiting areas of Suffolk to decide where to move to. Locals that know - any help with our criteria would be amazing!

  1. Hubby needs to be able to commute to London so good train links are essential. Less than 2 hours door to door (Liverpool Street lets say for now) would be amazing.

  1. I would like to be able to walk to school but it’s not a necessity. Potentially my youngest will be at primary. My eldest will be going to / about to go to secondary. Walking to secondary is not so important but it must be an excellent school (doesn’t everyone want that?!). Both are doing well, eldest is greater depth if that helps.

  1. We currently live in a market town which we like. Smallish, traditional butchers, greengrocers etc with a sainsburys local and a few take aways and a local pub. Parks and walks. We would like somewhere similar that a developer isn’t going to come and destroy (which is what’s happened where we are currently. 1200 new homes in 5 years and the traffic is horrific)

  1. I like the idea of being a little bit rural but able to get to a bigger town within say a 20-30 minute drive which has all the bigger shops, maybe a nice gym for the husband (David Lloyd would be superb!)

  1. Budget for a property would be around 500k. Preferably a 4 bed detached (but not in the middle of nowhere. Watched too many horrors. A view would be nice)

Thank you all in advance!

Sudbury? Its around a 1hr30min commute from there to Liverpool street by train. schools wise, you have ormiston Sudbury secondary academy. there are several primary schools, so you will need to check catchment areas here. there is a country park in Sudbury so lots of nice walks to be had. there is also a gym ([[http://www.zestgymsudbury.co.uk/ link to website), although not a david loyd. hope this helped a little!
