KGGS and other secondaries need to Grantham

Hi, possible move up north, what are the other secondaries like if your child isn’t bright enough for kggs? I know in Kent that the comps aren’t brilliant as the grammars cream off all the bright kids. Would rather not put all eggs into one basket! Thanks
