Moving to beaconsfield

Hello everyone. I need some help please, deciding if beaconsfield is a nice and safe place to move from London. We are currently living in Muswell Hill and I hate it. I want somewhere safe, friendly and good for kids. My partner needs to have access to M1 but I don’t really want to go that dar north, so I thought maybe beaconsfield? I do need to have shops and things to do otherwise I’ll go crazy. The priority is going somewhere where the schools are good, primary and secondary. I would happily look at private too if anyone can suggest some. Any tips or recommendations about this area or surroundings would be much appreciated
Thanks

How did your move go @LuciaPenman? We're also looking at Beaconsfield but no local connection.

Oh we didn’t in the end, it was way to busy around there. We moved to Surrey hills instead and we are loving it

Now that's a change of direction! Glad it worked out in the end.

Hi - we are moving from the US to the UK and planning to rent in Beaconsfield. We have seen a house on Meadow Lane, but we are wondering about that area of the town. There seems to be a mix of houses and estate housing. Is that area safe or would you recommend we look elsewhere? We are having to rent sight unseen so we’re really looking for input from folks who know the area. Thanks!!

I know Beaconsfield pretty well. There's places I'd rather live (partly as parking in the Old Town is horrendous) but it's reasonably popular.

I doubt any areas of Beaconsfield would be called unsafe but there is an area with a mix of council and private housing in the new town.

@Expat2022 I don't live in Beaconsfield but drive through it regularly and live quite nearby, I wouldn't worry about it being unsafe.

Do you mind me asking why you hated Muswell Hill?

It's a fantastic place to live.
Meadow Lane and that area is fab, IMHO.
Walking distance to new town, old town and the station.
In catchment for St Mary's which is a great school (all schools in Beaconsfield are good but St Mary's is Ofsted Outstanding).
Can easily get up to old amersham and across to Marlow.
