Secondary schools from Send, Woking

Hi, can anyone advise which secondary schools young people go to from Send? Want to move there but need to look at schools....sorry if this is my second post as I couldn't see the first!

Send is only a 9 minute drive from hoe valley secondary so it may be worth looking there x

It looks great, thanks. I see it generally admits people who live within 2 miles (as the crow flies) and I'm not sure if that includes Send. Will have to hunt for a way to measure the 2 mile radius!

i think its about 3.5 miles, so you might just be out of the area

I was talking with a friend who lives in Send a month or so ago about this. This is what she said.

Previously (before Hoe Valley opened) a lot of the children went to George Abbot. However since Hoe Valley is now their closest school they've dropped down in the admissions criteria for George Abbot from "nearest school" to "any other applicants" which has meant in some cases they haven't got in. From what I've heard Hoe Valley is popular and admissions don't come out as far as Send. Instead they've been centrally allocated a place at Bishop David Brown over in Sheerwater.

Clearly this is only anecdotal and it probably depends where in Send you live.

Yes, AppleAlpaca’s friend is correct - Send is rather a tricky area for secondaries at the moment.

If you live at the Clandon end of the village/Burntcommon/top of Send Marsh then you are probably ok for George Abbott (but never any guarantees) as it will be your nearest school.
If you live middle of Send/Woking end of Send you will most likely be too far away to get your nearest school (Hoe Valley) and will end up allocated an under subscribed school (usually BDB in Sheerwater)

Amongst this year’s leavers there was quite a high number who did not get their choice of school on first allocation however many have already got places from the waiting list (and others may do so before Sept - it just makes for a rather anxious time of waiting)

Each year is different though depending on how many applicants there are etc..last year GA went out to nearly 6km, this year only just over 3 I think...all the info is on the Surrey LA website (although only for allocation day - doesn’t reflect final distance after waiting lists etc)
