Hi Euansmam. Sorry, I haven't been on MN much over the w/e so I've only just seen your post. My children are now both secondary school age but I'd be happy to meet up with you if you'd like. I've met up with 3 other MNers in the last couple of years. Twice in a cafe in town (the eco friendly type one near the library) and twice in the supermarket with a cafe (which is currently being made much larger). I work in town so could meet you there, if you'd like? If you'd rather chat a bit on e-mail first, I could CAT (contact another talker) you or you could find me on the Good Housekeeping daily FLY thread (not the babysteps one) and you could get to know me a bit better there, first. You'll find another local MNer on those threads, too and her children are primary and pre-primary school age. She's very nice. Your call.

Hi ivycross. Sorry, I've only just seen your post. Yes, I'm in Aber but moved here when my children were school and pre-school age so I don't know much about what is around for new mums in this area really. I'd be happy to chat to you if you want, though.

I don't spend much time on MN at all due to work, running a house and having older children with all their after school activities. If I'm to be found anywhere, it's on the daily Fly thread which is on the Good Housekeeping topic. As I mentioned in an earlier post, another regular on that thread lives near Aber and her children are much younger than mine and she is lovely. Does that help at all?

Hi there peaceplease. Sorry, I'm too far away from you so a meet up isn't possible for me, I'm afraid. I hope you manage to find others in Pembrokeshire soon.

PS saw from a very old posting on this thread that there's an eco friendly cafe near the library in Aber. Is that still up and running? Might go one day to check out the library and cafe with my two (3y DD and 9 month old DS)...

Hi Jools, I think the eco-friendly cafe is probably the Tree House in Baker Street. I usually go there for lunch and/or coffee whenever I'm back in Aber - they have lovely cake too!

Report
BessieBoots · 15/06/2010 11:59

Ooooh, the Tree House is lovely... As is the Quarry Caff in Machynlleth (Owned by The Centre For Alternative Technology.)

Report
LinzerTorte · 15/06/2010 12:13

Yes, the Quarry cafe is lovely too if it's the one I'm thinking of (on the main street). We sometimes take the DC to Mach when we're back in Aber as they love the train ride (seeing sheep is such a novelty to them!); haven't been to the Centre for Alternative Technology for years though.
