I believe Rose Court is going to be moved to the main GSAL campus in the next couple of years.

DS got an offer to GSAL but we're not sure it's the right move for the family as we've got a place at a good state school; anyone knows if GSAL is actually excellent or just expensive?
Particularly interested to hear about atmosphere, extra curricular activities and special topics not covered in state schools. Oh decisions decisions!! TIA x

Apparently the Junior School has just started a redundancy process with its teachers...not sure how many they need to lose but it doesn't sound great tbh.

A friend works there and is potentially affected. They’re trying to get out ASAP.

If you’re in The Allerton high catchment area I would consider sending your child here. Just got an excellent ofsted, in the top 10% of state schools. Alwoodley primary is opposite and also has an excellent reputation

What’s the rationale for the redundancy process? RugRats5 if your friend is there, they will be able to explain the basis for the redundancies. Intrigued.

I was mistaken. Technically it's not a redundancy programme. They have quite a number of temporary staff apparently and they aren't able to keep them all at the end of this year when their contracts are due to be renewed so they are having to choose between them. My friend used incorrect terminology when telling me. Sorry for any confusion. To them I guess it feels like a redundancy programme except they won't benefit any redundancy pay :-( Cheap way to lose staff though.

Thanks for clarifying. Suppose the fact the roles are temporary means they were probably cover for absences like mat leave or similar. I hope your friend finds another role soon.

Presumably, yes. I guess the picture won't be clear until the end of the process and either the staff body is the same size or it's not. Some not very happy teachers there at the minute though, it's unsettling at best. Sad
