Applying Edinburgh Primary &Secondary during summer

Hi
We are moving to Edinburgh south in early August, notes all school closed for summer. Any idea how to apply kids into Bruntfield (p5)and Boroughmuir High School (S4)so that they could starts school same day as other pupil?
I noted Bruntfield (within catchment)over subscribed, is that means that I have to find other school nearby? Problem most school in the area over subscribed. I would be grateful if anyone could share your experience applying for a school during summer holiday. I had emailed with completed application to the schools two weeks ago but no reply.

The schools would have been closed 2weeks ago too. Did you email the school or the council?

There are a couple of in service days before term starts, staff will be in before the children are. check the council website for exact dates and get ringing round as soon as staff are back.

If you can't get them into Bruntsfield I suggest your nearest school likely to have places is Tollcross Primary. I have one there. It's a friendly wee school with good attainment.

School staff return on the 13th of August. If you call them about 9.30/10am that gives staff a chance to get in and organised.

You’ll need to wait until the in service day (13, 14 August) to contact the school. I had to do this a few years ago, I went straight to the school with birth certificates and proof of address when it opened. The council will only help if you have a P1 or S1. Both your schools are over subscribed so be prepared to be put on the waiting list and find a place somewhere else in the meantime. As PP said, Tollcross is a good option. Good luck.
