Is Swinton a nice place to live?

Hi

Found a house in Swinton (close to Swinton police station)
I don't know Manchester well at allso would appricate any options on the area please.

We have a young family so want to avoid high crime areas...

I work in Swinton and it’s is a lovely area of Salford. It has some really nice parks, decent shopping area and people are just normal and friendly. There are obviously places you’d want to avoid - I have heard the Poet’s estate isn’t particularly nice.

The primary schools are generally good and I think being close to the Police station may get you into the Deans, which is outstanding. Plus you’re really close to the library which is very good and accessible to walk to the shopping area.

I heard that Costa is opening up on Swinton shopping precinct. This area really needs coffee shops. In fact the area lacks quirky shops, bars and restaurants which you’d find in Worsley, Monton and Prestwich.

Secondary schools are also an issue with Swinton and Salford in general. I have heard that the progress made isn’t great and they’re are no outstanding secondaries at the moment.

All of the above is reflected in the house prices which are very reasonable. You get a lot for your money.

I suggest you spend some time in the area, visit the schools and see if it works for you.
