Commuting to Manchester from Timperley

Hi there, just looking for advice from anyone who lives in Timperley and works in central Manchester. Do you drive or get the tram and bus? Considering whether to accept a job offer in the city centre or if it will just end up being a massive PITA. The office is near the Arena.

Thanks in advance for any opinions!

Tram. It'll be fine.

I'm not within walking distance of a tram though so it's bus to Altrincham then tram. I know it's not exactly commuting hundreds of miles but it's going to be an hour each way plus weekly ticket of £35 so looking for opinions from people who do this daily.

Central Manchester is a nightmare for driving. Took me an hour and 45 mins to drive 5 miles out of the city centre last night.

Can you drive to Tram stop?

Thanks, Ontheboard. By coincidence my interview was last night and after a similar journey afterwards, I was wondering if it's worth continuing with the interview process.

The only tram I know of with a Park and Ride is Parrs Wood which is a bit of a drive. Parking at Navigation Road and Brooklands is limited and seems to be full after about half seven.

Why would you get a bus to Altrincham? Cant you drive to the Timperley tram stop or at least get the bus to Sale tram station so you're not going backwards.

The buses normally stop at Piccadilly so you would need to factor in walking from there to the Arena if you take the bus all the way

I would not drive. I sometimes drove to the Spinningfields side at the end of my last pregnancy and it was awful unless I left about 6:30am. You still have to get across to the arena and home at night

Whatever transport you decide on, the earlier you can leave in the morning, the better it will be

Whichever way I do it, it's going to be minimum an hour each way isn't it. I guess I was hoping someone had found some secret superfast way to do the journey Grin
