Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. Me and my wife have a budget of £800 000 and we are looking to buy a house in a very affluent area in Nottinghamshire or surrounding areas. We are willing to up our budget or go out of Nottinghamshire as long as we move to a nice affluent area. WE have a 4 year old son and we are looking for a good private school as well. Please help. what area or borough would you recommend?

With that budget you can go wherever you like. Maybe start with schools and go from there? Nottingham High School or Trent College would be the obvious secondaries I think.

The most affluent part of Nottingham, full of affluent people in very nice houses, is The Park. Also handy for the High School.

What are you looking for in the area other than affluence? Do you want a community or would you prefer isolation?

I would not be buying somewhere solely because it has wealthy people living there.

I'm looking for a nice area to live in. Suburban with nice streets and trees etc. Not isolated and not in town . Gated properties and driveways .

Ok, well The Park is in town (though doesn't feel like it). It's a Georgian gated estate, very lovely, though the houses are all quite close together.

For suburbia and your own gates, try West Bridgford and Beeston. Both have some large detached houses. There are some lovely villages too, especially south and east of Nottingham. It really will depend on which school you're travelling to.
