Moving to Wokinham area

My DH has been offered a job in the Wokinham area and we are looking to relocate to the area to save commute times. Any recommendations as to where to live with easy access to state primary/secondary schools for the DCs (primary aged dc has SEN but mainstream ed is fine, but would ideally need school with ASC rather than use achildminder) Jobs in my sector would most likely be based in Reading.
Thanks!

Hi,
Most of the schools, especially the good ones, are oversubscribed. I would recommend that you call the council and see which schools still have spaces and take it from there. Going by last year’s SATS results the best schools are St Teresas, Keep Hatch, Hawthorns and Westende in that order. Somebody posted on here last month and said that there were still places available in Keep Hatch but of course that might now have changed.
In terms of areas, it would depend on your budget and requirements. Do you want to be able to walk to the town and station or are you happy to drive everywhere? Would you prefer a new build on an estate or an older property? Are you happy to consider other places/villages outside of Wokingham?

I forgot I posted this. Thanks for the reply. I prefer to not rely on the car to get about and like to be a shortish walk to the town centre, but whatever provides the shortest commute time to work/school (and cheapest house prices) would be the best option. Relocating with children is a pain!
