Join friends, authors of The Midlife Kitchen and midlifers, Mimi Spencer and Sam Rice for a night in of conversation, nibbles and wine. Mimi Spencer and Sam Rice are on a mission to prove that ‘midlife’ needn’t be a crisis. They will be speaking about their own experiences as regular midlifers, sharing some of their tricks and tips to staying healthy whilst juggling a busy family, professional and personal life, as well as opening up the floor to your own questions.
In The Midlife Kitchen, Mimi & Sam have created more than 160 delicious recipes to restore, rejuvenate and revive – each featuring their colour-coded star anise system, which highlights the specific health benefits of the dish. With them, you can future-proof your life through your forties, fifties and well beyond.

Mimi Spencer, 50, is best known for co-authoring The Fast Diet with Michael Mosley, which introduced the concept of 5:2 intermittent fasting and sold more than a million copies worldwide. Writing three further books on the subject, Mimi developed a keen interest in nutrition and health. She is also a distinguished journalist with stints at Vogue, the Evening Standard, as editor of ES Magazine and as a features writer and columnist for The Observer, The Times and You Magazine.
Sam Rice, 47, started out as a management consultant but for the last 20 years has co-owned the travel business Ski Safari with her husband Richard. In 2013 she gained her WSET Diploma in wine and moved to Bali, subsequently writing about wine for Inspired Bali magazine. Following the death of her youngest brother from type 1 diabetes, Sam became increasingly interested in healthy eating, which inspired her book The Happy Eater, 4 Weeks to a Better Relationship with Food.
A-Canteen will be serving recipes from The Midlife Kitchen throughout the evening and there will also be wine and soft drinks available. Don’t miss out on this Monday night treat!
