Moving house - school application

Hi, my youngest daughter will be starting school September 2018, we were hoping to have moved house by the end of this month from Altrincham to Cheadle Hulme and I was going to apply for schools there. Unfortunately there are some issues with the searches on the house and it is looking like the sale may not proceed. We have also seen a house in Offerton but the bid hasn't yet been accepted. With the looming application deadline I really don't know what to do. We have sold our house so (fingers crossed!) we will be moving but I don't know if to apply for schools here just in case, or Cheadle Hulme ... Interested if anyone has been in a similar situation and what you did??
Any advice much appreciated!
