Hi lovely MNers I'm coming into Liverpool in February with my auntie for a day of shopping and I'm hoping to surprise her with a lovely afternoon tea/lunch as an extra treat. I want somewhere really lovely and not overly expensive. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you x

I’ll second that, but when booking online now you have to put in credit card details etc, bit of a faff. Totally worth it though!

Thank you everyone. My auntie doesn't like (as she calls it) arty farty menus 🙈😂 so a ham salad sandwich is fine but heaven forbid they do it with salmon and cream cheese, she'd be a right grump (I'd almost say hangry 😂🙈) the rest of the day. Will have a look at their menus and see what's on offer xxx

If she wants a more casual afternoon tea, try Leaf on Bold Street

Lovely cakes, great atmosphere and tea

The Hard Days Night Hotel does a lovely Afternoon Tea. If she's a Beatles fan she'll like it even more!

Cuthbert on Mount pleasant is lovely as is The London Carriage works. If you are willing to come out of the city centre, the Tea House on Lark lane is beautiful. It's a family run business where the mum makes beautiful teapots and so all the crockery is gorgeous!
