Broken TV!

Hi, I am wondering if you can help me. 5 weeks ago, I bought a TV. Since then, it has developed a crack on the inside of the screen and the colour is running, which means I cannot watch it. I took the product back to where I purchased and they have refused me a refund/repair as it looks like impact damage which is not a manufacturers fault, it’s classed as a damage/accidental fault which has to be returned within 48 hours. I am absolutely devastated as the TV was a treat to me and it cost £850.

So my only options as it stands are:

  1. Return to Samsung who will carry out a repair at a cost of circa £900 plus having to take X2 days off of work
  2. Buying a new TV at £850
  3. Claiming through home insurance which can be a lengthy process

Does anyone have any advice? I know it’s naughty, but I was thinking of buying the same branded TV, put the faulty one in new box and changing over serial codes and returning that back to store and saying it’s damaged.

Please advise me, I’m not trying to pull a fast one on the company, but I really feel as though I am out of options

I'd just claim on house insurance. Mine paid out very quickly for our phones that were damaged... both had cracked screens on the same day. As dodgy as it sounded it really happened.
