Home schooling.(1 Post)
I'm new to this site, my name is Jade and I have a 3 year old son (will be 4 in Jan). I am also a foster carer to a girl aged 8.
My son is partially sighted and for some time now I have been considering home schooling him. I already do the basics with him at home and he knows shapes, colours, numbers to 20, letters and sounds, he is drawing and writing letters and recognise his name and other words like mum, dad etc.. He never stops talking lol..
I would like to know if there are any other mums out there in my area who have decided to home school their child and how they have found it? What resources are available? Are there any tutors in the area to help with our child's educational needs, and how much do they cost?..
I know home schooling isn't for everyone and I appreciate that, I just feel that it is the best option for my boy. So I would appreciate it if I didn't get any non helpful replies.
I would like to enrol him into some clubs so that he can form a good friends circle and socialise etc but I haven't found many in my area for his age.
My foster child is in full time school and when she is at home she requires nearly all of my attention as she has quite a lot of needs. This isn't a problem it's just that I also worry that if my son went into full time education at school I would never be able to spend any quality time with him and this would have an effect on our relationship and cause tensions and problems between him and my foster child. He already has to deal with quite a lot at home because of our foster child, basically his whole life has to revolve her and her needs and what we expected to do by the social etc.
I love the time I get to spend with him alone and teaching him and seeing him flourish and learn things. He amazes me everyday.
Any advise would be really helpful.
Thank you in advance
