Macclesfield
(10 Posts)Thinking of moving to the area, and commuting in to Manchester. Any views from locals much appreciated.
Mac is great. We live in congleton but my boys play roller hockey in mac and we use the town regularly for cinema, bowling, laser quest, diy stores etc. The treacle market is supposed to be fab, although I haven't made it to that yet!

I'm also really interested in hearing these responses as Macclesfield / Congleton is an area I'm currently looking at.
I live in the area .. (from the south east originally but I've been here 19 years). Macc is great for Manchester commute although trains are busy obvs. I have teens so we go to Manchester a lot or they go in with their friends.
I posted on a similar thread not long ago about Macc in general .. you should be able to find it if you scroll
Puffy... you should try treacle.. it's great ! As is the Barnaby ( biennial) festival ...which will be on next May/June
OP , if you have any specific questions about areas/ schools/ stuff to do/ clubs etc.. will be happy to help
I don't know much about Macc, but I live in Congleton. It's a super-boring, sleepy market town, but I find that it's a lovely place to raise kids, quite safe too.
Also, hi, local mums. )
Yes congleton is great, although it's at risk of becoming a sprawling commutersville town of massive new housing estates
We have some fantastic events though, with the food festival, the jazz festival etc a wonderful park, on the edge of loads of country walks, it's really central - easy links to Manchester and the m6.. great schools both primary and secondary, some lovely shops springing up (although still too many hairdressers charity shops and opticians!) the local populace like to moan a lot on the local Facebook chat site, but all around its lovely. Some great eateries as well. Hubby and his parents and grandparents were born and bred here, that's the type of town it is.
Hahaha, puffylovett, are you on Congleton CHats Back then? ) The moaning is a bit over the top on that group, but yes... charity shops, betting shops and opticians. And then some more opticians. :D
Yes coffeemilknosugar I am! I try not to be as it's scary occasionally, but sometimes, usually when I'm a tad hormonal I like to go on and wind a few people up
Hahaha. ) I'll definitely look out for wind-ups from now on!
