Hi, I must introduce myself as I'm the new local editor of the Belfast local talk. I am going to try my bestest to get the local site up and running after the recent design upgrade. I am new to doing this but I'd love the Belfast site to be informative and more up to date. I intend on adding listings and events and all the necessary info people might need, so bear with me whilst I find my feet !

I'm a mum to one and a mumsnet addict on the main boards but I hope we can get something going here on the local site and I'll try and help out with any queries and advice when I can Smile Brew Wine

What do you have in mind for the local site?

Hi NightmareMonkey - I'm really new to this local editor role, so I am learning at the minute but the idea is to increase the chat/talk so it's more relevant and useful for our area and I'll reply as soon as possible if I am able to help, so everyone gets an answer or a response asap.
Also to get some local advertising and thus offers for our area. I would like to show any events that are happening that might be of interest and if anyone knows of any please post or let me know.
I am also thinking of starting a local blog and linking it, but I'm researching the whole blog phenomenon !
Ideally it would be good to organise a Belfast meet up at some stage in the future if we have enough interest and the site picks up.
I do appreciate any ideas though, so please feel free to tell me Smile

Hello! I do check the local board regularly but it's a bit quiet so it'd be nice if a few more of us got chatting Smile

That's great that some of us are into having a meet up as I wasn't sure if it would be me sitting alone with a coffee looking at my watch. I'll have a look at the other local boards and see what's the best way of organising this, especially with Christmas coming up (that's the first time I've typed the 'C' word this year). I'd love to meet new people too.
I keep you posted by starting a meet up thread in the not too distant future Brew

girlbesidethesea - I was in Derry a few weeks ago - a half price deal at a pub restaurant that was amazing value ! Anyway, I'm just concentrating on the Belfast board - I know Norn Iron has been divided up into counties on local talk but I have explained to mumsnet that we are all quite near really and perhaps they might amalgamate the local boards a wee bit ?

Great to hear this! I'm not an avid poster or reader but could get into it if we have something local. Always looking more of a network of pals so also interested in a meet :)

I've always wondered how the meet ups work. Do people tell other people their MN names?

What if you've posted loads about your nightmare MIL or neighbour, or piles or fungal toe infection?

Report
buckeejit · 03/10/2017 20:31

...and then find nightmare mil at the meetup? 😬

Report
BelfastLocalEditor · 03/10/2017 20:54

I'm not too sure - I hadn't thought of the fungicidal or mil issues or perhaps even more embarrassing disclosures Shock. I rarely research anyone's previous posts and I can't even be arsed fb stalking, so I'm fairly safe.
