Hi all,

we're moving to Swansea, Sketty in 5 days and we're down to a choice between Brynmill and Terrace Road Primaries for my two girls. Any opinions, advice or experience of either schools would be lovely, as we haven't actually had a chance to visit x

Anecdotally, I would go for Brynmill. I have taught there, and I liked it. I know lots of children who went there, and their parents are all very happy with it.

I haven't heard much about Terrace Road, but they have a much bigger staff turnover which never seems like a great advert...

Terrace Rd is an excellent school with a lot of support in place for children who don't have English as a first language. They do have a big staff turn over, I've applied for at least six jobs there in the last three years! If EAL isn't a need for you, I would go for Brynmill.

If you're moving to Sketty is there a reason you aren't looking at Parklands or Sketty Primaries?

Ooh, exciting! Swansea is fab and Sketty and Uplands are lovely. I do not know anything personally about Terrace Road but have heard good things about it.

Brynmill School is fab - I love it. My kids go there. It is very diverse, warm, friendly, welcoming. The ethos is very much one of celebrating difference. They have lots of children who have English as a second language, or no English, plus a fair sprinkling with additional needs and it is completely accepted and celebrated which I love about it. The staff are caring, committed and long standing. My kids are very happy and are doing well.

I know some friends with children in Parklands and Sketty - heard good and some not so good things about both but no personal experiences.

Obviously, I am biased towards Brynmill!

How old are your child/ren?
