Shrewsbury Bicton Heath or Copthorne?

Hey folks

I was wondering if anyone local to Shrewsbury could help... We are moving over to Shrewsbury, we know which schools have vacancies and are settled on that score but just trying to choose the best area to live in from our available options (we want to try and make our financial investment as secure as possible so ideally want to buy somewhere popular/desirable to make it easier to sell as and when the time comes to up sticks again, but not being from the area this is a tough call for us).

At present we are choosing between a better house in Bicton Heath/Gains Park (what's the difference?), And a less good house opposite Copthorne Park.

I know Copthorne is quite popular but I can't find anything out about Bicton Heath. Is it popular there or are we likely to end up stuck with a house that we can't shift?

Thanks in advance

Live nearby but never heard of Copthorne Park.

Hi OP, there are other estates in Bicton Heath, Gains Park is in Bicton Heath. Gains Park is fine, it is a nice place to live. The local school - Oxon - is rated outstanding by Offsed. There are fields you can walk in very near by. Copthorne is also nice but more expensive. I think you would like either area equally really so if the house is better in Gains Park then I would go for that one.

Oh and i don't think you would have a problem selling in Gains Park or Copthorne.

I think depends whether you want to be able to walk into town or not. Copthorne would be walkable, whereas to me Gains Park
/ Bicton would not be. IMO Cophtorne has a nicer range of houses, whereas Gains Park is very housing estatey, but depends what you like!

I prefer Copthorne because it's closer to The Mount, Porthill and Kingsland (all very desirable areas to live, Kingsland would be my dream area - with a lottery win!) - but if you want a newer or bigger house, and don't mind getting bus or using car, then Bicton Heath or Gains park may work for you?

Thanks everyone.

We chose the Copthorne area in the end, it was a combination of the distance into town & to the schools that we want, along with the area just generally being more 'us'. Obviously I've been watching Rightmove since and it seems to have been the more sound financial choice too: none of the Bicton Heath/Gains Park properties are selling but everything that we looked at in Copthorne (or very close) has sold.

Fingers crossed it all comes together soon

Glad you chose Copthorne! Good luck!
