I am moving to the area soon and planning to start nursery for my son when he will be 11-12 months old. Has anyone had any recent experience in Surbiton Day Nursery & Pre-School or Dicky Birds Nursery? Any other good nurseries? What did you like or didn't like about them? Any comments appreciated! Hi!

My own boys have both been at DB at Claremont Hall since they were babies and we've really liked it - really personal and flexible to the children's needs. DS1 was very shy and reserved and they worked wonders with him on his social skills and confidence. The real drawback is limited outside space but they make the most of what they have, and also local parks and forest school for the older kids.

I only know a few people who have got through the Asquith nursery but they have seemed happy with it.

It is a ridiculous question but do you know where your boy might go to school? Different nurseries seem to feed to different primaries (though our eldest' year at DB tended to be pretty evenly spread across Maple, Lime Tree, St Matthews and Surbiton Girls/Boys, with smaller numbers at Christ Church and Ditton Infants. He started school with 5 others from nursery which really helped.)

oh, I haven't even thought about it. It is really a good point. We are planning to move closer to Lime Tree, St Matthews schools. I guess it should work fine then.

They're both lovely schools. Smile We're a bit spoilt for choice round here when it comes to primaries!

That's great to hear! Smile

Another recommendation for Dicky Birds from me. Staff are great and both my DCs love it there. Lots of additional activities available once they get to the pre-school stage - dance, teddy tennis, swimming.

It is v popular, though, so try and get on the waiting list asap.

Advantage day nursery. We love it and so do our children. Didn't initially consider it as it involved driving and then to station but worth it. I have 3 dcs. Eldest now at st Matthews
