Help with First Birthday Celebrations

Hi all,

I live abroad and will be back in Cardiff for an unplanned visit in a few weeks. Whilst there it will be my sons first birthday so we've decided to have a small family party for him, mostly adults and a few older children. I've not lived in Cardiff for a few years and I don't know what to do or where to go.

I don't feel a play centre party is necessary but ideally a restaurant or a pub that offers a children's play area would be good. I saw Juniors advertised as a restaurant and play area but this seems to have changed and I can't access their website or work out what exactly they are offering. I've found a few Charlie Chalk type places but they have generic websites and if seem difficult to work out what exactly each location has to offer. I would love some true mummy advice and any inspiration. There will be around 24 of us of that about 8 will be children.

Thank you!!

Junior's has closed down. I tend to avoid pubs wirh play areas, but there is one in the bay called cedar tree. Wacky wear house type place in St Mellons.

Picnic at st Fagans or cosmeston would be nice.
Pub with play area? A few in North Cardiff.

Thank you! Don't mind going out of Cardiff as some people are travelling in, open to the suburbs and areas further afield. There's a Brewyers Fayres in Cearphilly which isn't too far from my in laws.

Ty nant is quite good for kids and has playarea outside, kids menu etc. It's a brains pub and not fancy but has some character and always had good service. Not far from Caerphilly, opposite pughs

The Ship in Barry is nice for food and has a big children's play area although not sure if your 1 year old would go in by himself.
Cedar Tree does great food but the play area is a bit crap (mainly machines that you need to pay for so will add up with a few kids).
