Hi!
Hope everyone is well.
My husband is being relocated to Derby (from London). And we are looking to move to a nice village or something near derby (30-45 mins away). We've lived in London so far and we are really looking forward to a nice peaceful country life, however being new at all the moving away from a city I would like some advice.
We have a 7 year little girl who currently attends a catholic primary school. We would like a nice local community and good school options. Any advice?
Thank you ladies in advance for your time!

Hi, have a look at Duffield, it's got two very good primary and and an excellent secondary school. It's a lovely village full of families, lots of children's activities and clubs. A nice church community too.
There is an arts festival and a carnival and it's an easy place to make friends.
It's a short drive or train ride to Derby and it means all the extra amenities are on your doorstep.
There are good transport links for older children and crime rates are low.
We have brought up our children here and now one son has chosen to move back and bring his family up here too.

Hello Stephany271

I moved up here from London a few years ago and live in Matlock. There's a few ex-Londoners in Matlock so I'm likely to be a little biased but it's a lovely community with really great schools and lots of things to do.

If, like us, you end up doing a little tour of the area, please do let me know and I'll pop out and meet you in person.

Unless, of course, you've already moved up here and then let's grab a coffee.

Don't forget the traffic in Matlock though, as soon as the sun shines it's gridlock!
