Ocean Village - good place to live with kids?

We are moving to Southampton and as we are Catholics we are strongly considering the Springfield Primary and St.Annes for our daughters. Does anyone could recommend the best areas to live next to these schools? We are considering Ocean Village. Could someone give me more information if it is a good place to live with kids?
Thanks a lot!

Aren't ocean village all flats and not terribly child friendly? Given the school is near the commons, I would suggest highfield, basset or upper shirely. I have lived in highfield and it has great transport links with buses on the avenue. It is also close to the commons. The not so good thing is that it is close to the university. I used to work there in my 20s. Not sure if I still think feel the same with children? Do you have a list of areas the school bus runs to?

St Anne is a great school btw.

I mean I lived in highfield and worked at the university. There are a lot of student housing but also good houses too. Basically look around the commons. Hill lane, north and south of the commons. (Highfield is east of the commons). As long as school buses cover your area, you should be fine).

Ocean Village has some houses and flats with gardens as well as the newer block of flats. People here have children at both Springhill and St Patrick's over the bridge. Do you particularly want to be in Ocean Village and by the sea? If not then upper Shirley/Highfield/Bassett is probably better.

St Annes is the best of the Southampton schools
do bear in mind there are LOTS of non catholics there

Ocean Village would not be my choice
the streets around Hill Lane have nice houses
