Hi there, first time poster here.

We currently live in Dorset with a view to moving to central Winchester. We have 3DC our eldest DS (13) has severe dyslexia is statemented and attends More House School Frensham as a weekly boarder. Our youngest DS (age 4.5) has difficulties sensory/autistic traits/speech delay. We are having Portage. We are in the process of going through EHCP assessment.

My question is what is SEN provision like in central Winchester schools? I have been advised to ring all local SENCOs see the schools etc which I will do but wondered if there is any particular schools which are supportive. I feel we will need it!

It is stressful to go through this again with my second son as I am trying to be as proactive as possible in securing the support needed; so any advice gratefully received.

Thank you.

Hi I can only speak for St Bedes Primary and I have found it to be much improved in the last couple of years.
The head and SENCO are very approachable (this wasn't always the case) and do try to work with the parents and pupils to accommodate additional needs.
The school is oversubscribed though, so you will have to live nearby to stand a chance of getting in.

I've heard great things about the new Westgate school being good with SN, some of the others not so much.
