Hi all! We are moving to Whitefield soon. Around first of May... Just wondering what the area is like.. We were originally looking to buy at South Manchester- Sale and Didsbury area..but we seem to get more space for our money in Whitefield. Hope we made the right decision.

It's got some good restaurants and small shops, good schools and is great for access. Adjoining Prestwich has a blossoming cafe bar / cocktail culture and, again, great restaurant choices. It's not the most beautiful if areas but neither is most of Sale! Good choice!

That's exactly what we did - rented in Didsbury village for years but bought our first home in Whitefield. Never looked back. It's lovely around here.

Hi,

I live in Bury but in the coming weeks I am moving to Unsworth. I have a 6 month old baby girl and not returnung to wirk till Febryary 2018. I have being so busy with family visiting as I moved over here from Ireland 3 years ago, decorating, selling & buying house I have never given myself time to meet other mums and now I'm feeling a bit isolated. I would be interested in meeting like minded Mums

My smallest one has started reception now but from memory there are quite a few local playgroups / baby classes.

There's a children's center at Ribble Drive and another at Heaton Park (Cuckoo Lane) school, I think at Butterstile in Prestwich too. There certainly used to be a playgroup at St. Margarets, in the community center over the road from the church. I don't know about the ones further up in Whitefield but I'm sure I've seen things advertised. The library in Prestwich might also be worth looking at although maybe more for slightly older children?

Wave to all the Whitefield people!

Hi All,

I hope some one on this thread can help me. Finding child care for my son is proving to be an impossible task . He will be starting St Bernadette’s after the Christmas break and I’m looking for a child minder before and after school before I start my new role on the 21st of Jan.

I hope some one can help 😢
