Exeter Primary Schools

I have a bright son who swings from being over to under confident (usually the latter) and I'm trying to find out about Primary schools in or near Exeter. We are in the catchment (just) for St Leonard's which seemed friendly, but may have to relocate so a bit flexible. I am also wondering about Exewick Heights, West Hill (new head) & Stoke Hill. How do they compare as ofsted are great for all & I believe should be taken as a very rough guide? Local opinions usually far better. Does a change of head alter school performance a few years down the line? Looking for somewhere particularly strong on English & Maths. Advice would be great! Thanks.
