Hi there, we've been renting in Cambridge for a year, and we're considering buying in Bottisham. Does anyone have any experience of this village? It seems nice but it's a big step for me & I'm concerned we'll feel too cut off? Is there much going on? Schools good? Thanks in advance?

Hi the high school there is rated excellent in all four areas. But consider sixth forms - they have to bus in at around 7:15am from Bottisham but if you live in say Fulbourn/cherry Hinton/Shelfords they can cycle in fifteen minutes.

If you are thinking about moving to Bottisham please check out transport links, roads, cycling and buses. The village may seem close to Cambridge but it can take a long time to reach Cambridge at certain times. Please study the bus timetable, at May 2016 the last bus out of the village was 18.04 and was not very reliable. Could you rent in the village to find out if you will be settled and happy, buying a house is expensive and takes time, so a very big commitment if you are unsure.

Bottisham is a great village, v famiy friendly, primary school is fab and secondary as mentioned above is superb.
The ONLY reason I wouldn't recommend moving here is if you would have to rely on public transport which is pants.
A different way of feeling cut off is that it feels like you are more in the country side. Fields and walks, ease of access to Anglesey Abbey lovely pubs etc.
If you do come, message me, more than up for a pint in the pub :-)
