Independent schools in York

Hi,
My daughter is currently in Year 1 at a local Primary school, but we are considering moving her to one of the private schools. As neither of us went to private school, nor are local to York we really don't have anyone to ask for first hand experience of the schools.
The Mount is logistically the easiest for us to move to, and we visited last weekend at their open day. They were very welcoming, but I am concerned about the low number of pupils and how the school can be financially viable.
The other options are the Minster school, Bootham or St Peter's (Clifton). She seems fairly bright, and was certainly working at the standard of the current Mount Year 1 class from what we saw on the weekend but she is certainly not especially gifted.
Do any of you have any insights that you could share with me to give us something to go on. It's such a lot of money! Thank you

My neighbours had a son at Clifton. He certainly seemed very happy there and they were always sharing pictures on Facebook of activities he was doing at school which looked great.

They hadn't realised when they chose Clifton that he'd have to go to school on Saturday if he went on to St Olave's at 8. They moved away before it happened but I think they were quite apprehensive about it as they thought it would be too much for him.

Thank you for that Janey. I hadn't thought about Saturday school but is indeed something to think about. I believe that The Mount does't have Saturday school at all so I need to think more about that.
Would love to hear from any one else who has any experience of any of these schools.
Thank you :-)

Old thread but may I ask, what did you decide Hotdog?

Why are none of the state schools suitable?

@thebluebellas I’ve just seen your request for an update. We did move her in the end to The Mount. We got the best feel from there and liked the staff members we met. Overall it has been a great move and she is very happy there (albeit from home at the moment!)
