Hi,
We are looking to buy our first property. We have 2 boys, 2 years and 5 months. My husband works in Alderley Edge, I do a lot of activities in Stockport and Styal. We fell in love with a property in Lostock Gralam today. Anyone know it? What's it like for young children? What are the roads like for commuting? Any honest opinions appreciated!

I don't really know that part of Cheshire sorry but I'm sure someone will be along soone who does.

It's a great age to move to a new area though as you'll, hopefully, get to meet local Mums with children of a similar age Smile

One thing I would suggest is that if you do go there, go to the local groups if it's even just one or two. I made some great friends from our local nct open house group, friends that I hope will be with me for life Smile

Thanks. I intend to find a local playgroup and see what else is on.

Hi there and welcome to Cheshire! Lostock is cute and great for places like Northwich, Knutsford and Chester. As it is small, I should imagine most of the baby classes and groups will be in these areas.

The parish council would be a good place to start - www.lostockgralamparishcouncil.co.uk/

Here is a link to the local primary school - www.lostockgralam.cheshire.sch.uk/

Your local NCT group would be - www.nct.org.uk/branches/mid-cheshire

There is a great new pool in Northwich which is only 5 mns away - www.brioleisure.org/centres/northwich-memorial-court

Plus Barons Key has just opened with an Odeon and shops, not been myself yet! - www.baronsquay.co.uk/

There are so many great places to visit near you, Delamere Forest, Cheshire, Marbuty Park, Tatton Park!

From Lostock to Alderley, I'd think would be 45mns to an hour at rush hour, with the bottle necks of Knutsford and being mostly country windy roads.

Let us know if you have any more questions and good luck!

Hi,
Thanks! Luckily my husband works nights so not affected by rush hour. Sounds good from what you have said. Going back for a second viewing tomorrow and will try and look around a bit whilst we are there.

Have you done anymore research into the area or done a second viewing yet? I'm excited and I don't even know the area! Grin

Done both. We love it! Seller has offered to include any furniture in the sale as it is going to a house clearance company otherwise so final viewing tomorrow to make a list and then will put an offer in! Fingers crossed please

I'm sure you'll have no trouble. It took my a while but I made some really good ones, mainly through the local NCT social group that meet each week.

You will. When I moved to Cheshire 14 years ago I knew nobody, and now I've some great mates who I love and trust and are very important in my life. In fact 4 of us are off to see 50 Shades of Grey on Friday with cocktails beforehand!

Lostock is a quiet area, don't hear if much trouble, barely any. My mum was born and raised there along with her 9 siblings :)
