Can anyone recommend a tutor for the South West Herts Consortium 11+ tests? Watford or nearby area. I've looked on the Eleven Plus Forum but discovered they don't allow recommendations for tutors on there.

This won't be much help, but we tutored ourselves and ds got in.
Parents of older kids were happy to pass on recommendations at our primary, but I know that that's not the case everywhere.

Thanks. TBH, not a huge number of pupils from my DCs' primary go to Parmiters / Clement Danes / the two grammars, and I only know a small number of parents with children who've been through the Consortium tests (er, two sets). I've asked both of them, and one of them seems to have had a mega focussed, intense tutor from Y4; the other went to one of those tuition companies from Y5.

Did you just do exam techinque / practising the format of the papers, or did you teach your DS extra actual content? One of the two I've spoken to stressed how much it's about knowing just lots more maths (i.e. lots more of the primary maths curriculum, which they won't have covered in school by the time the Consortium tests happen at the start of Y5).

Isn't the test at the beginning of Y6?
I don't know with the new SATs, but we had to cover a lot of maths that they hadn't done in (state) primary yet. Maths was definitely a challenge.
English was more about the actual test format. Still lots of practice needed.
We only started in the January of the test year, when ds was in Y5,

Oh typo - yes, meant beginning of Y6. Did you basically do all the Y6 maths?

We worked through the Bond 11+ books and also had a subscription for an online program. It was like IXL, but I have forgotten the name!

Not sure if you are still looking for a tutor in the Watford area. I am a teacher with more than 15 years experience of tutoring primary children on a 1 to 1 and small group basis. The small group tuition is for Y5 children who require 11+ preparation for the Consortium tests but I also prepare children for private school entry. I still currently have spaces for my groups which will start in September 2017, If you are interested, please send me a private message.

I appreciate this thread is old, but just in case anyone is looking in the future, I would advise avoiding TuitionWorks in Rickmansworth. They caused a lot of problems between my dd's mother and I (who are separated) by poor communication, even causing a small scene directly in front of my daughter when I went to collect her.

Just my opinions.
