Does anyone have any experience of senco at this school, good or bad? We are trying to make school decisions about my dyslexic daughter and have heard a variety of comments about local provisions.

Hi, I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this conversation, we are considering a number of schools in the Wimbledon area for our daughter, Ursuline prep being one of them and wondered if you can expand on the school being in chaos and staff leaving! We obviously want to make the right choice for our daughter and schools always look wonderful in paper so would value your advice. Thanks

Hi OffallyGood, my daughter is at The Ursuline and has been for a number of happy years. I know a few parents at the school who have girls with special educational needs, and they have always seemed pleased with the specialised teaching provision, smaller class sizes and caring ethos. I don’t have a sense of pupils leaving the school in droves. I would recommend you look around it and decide for yourself whether you think it would suit your daughter.

BigBang74 are you an Ursuline parent? I had to laugh at the idea of the Hall being progressive, it is anything but. OP there seems to be someone on the thread with either an axe to grind or another motive. I do not have DCs at Ursuline but I so have 3 DNs there and their experience has not been of staff and student leaving in droves. Nor have they been doing rote learning/copying from the board.

Going back to the original question around SEN provision for your dyslexic daughter which is the very important question here. I suggest you look up the SENCO's qualifications, and speak to parents in the school with dyslexic daughters. That will give you an informed view. And yes, lots of great teachers have left and are leaving. It's a fact not an opinion. And I know of a few who are going off to The Study. If people are cross it is because they feel they are being shortchanged. I don't want to get into an argument about it, but if a dd has dyslexia they need targeted and specialised support. I'm just saying be careful with your choice Offaly Good, as it's something you will need to live with and your daughter deserves the best. Ask around and make your own choice. But in your shoes I would speak to a few people and don't be frightened to ask questions. Good luck.

OffallyGood just wanted to draw your attention to the thread above 'reporting school governors' if you are still considering Ursuline.
