Urban Drive, Altrincham --- rough area?
(9 Posts)Hi everyone, my husband and i are looking for house around Altrincham. It seems like there are a lot of good schools around Urban Drive, but i did a bit home work shows that Urban Drive is quite rough due to 50% of social rent?
Please can anyone local give us some advices?
I wouldn't have said it's rough but generally prices reflect desirability of location - so if a (for example) 3 bed semi on the road is massively cheaper than a different part of Altrincham it's probably because the areas not so sought after.
I wouldn't say it was rough either, but there are leafier parts of Altrincham. Very convenient for several sought after schools though, definitely. And the town centre / tram / park.
Thanks Mandy for your reply, i agree that the price reflect the area, i guess we just hope to be lucky to find a bargain.
Our budget is about 300K, it seems not a lot of choice around that price range and also we would like to have metrolink close by as well.
We have a few appointment this weekend around timperly, hopefully we will find sth suitable.
Thanks Ilanthe for your reply. Is that means if we don't mind the size of the house Urban drive is ok for a choice? I just did some search on the police website, it shows that quite a lot of crime around that one road. We are still going to see a house there this weekend, maybe i will have a better understanding then.
Kathy I think there is zero possibility of a bargain in Altrincham! The estate agents know its an area people are looking to move to, especially those with school age children.
With that budget, I'd have thought Timperley was a very good option, close to Navigation Road tram station perhaps?
Hi Mandy, thanks for your suggestion.
I am afraid even around Timperly 300k doesn't look like much option now. we are not planing to have kids actually just thought school area probably holds better value for money.
We are still in a confuse.com situation, if we are not consider school area, to be honest there are a lot of other options like Bramhall or Sale water park area also quite nice.
Maybe I am just a person think too much ...hmm..
Depends what size house you are looking for. There are quite a lot for sale within that kind of budget.
Mandy, yes, we are going to see some houses this weekend including the one on the Urban Drive. Hopefully we will find one that we both like.
