Hi, I've just moved from London to St Austell with my DP and 10 month old DD. Looking to meet up with other mums in the area who can help direct me to good mum & baby groups and meet up with for coffee (or wine/gin Wink).

Although I do have family and friends elsewhere in Cornwall, I don't actually know anyone in St Austell so I'm hoping that some of you lovely, local MNers will help me kick off this new chapter in my life.

Hello there - welcome to Cornwall! We moved from London 10 years ago - it is a big move!

I am not sure what is going on in St Austell for mums of little ones at the minute, but I will find out and come back to this thread! Check out the library, there are a couple of story time sessions every week.

There is a lovely cafe in Truro run by the Cornish Food Box which would be worth the trip! They have a mums and tots meet up there every Tuesday at midday, but to be honest it is a great place to drop in to. Lots of mums and little ones, especially between 9:30 and 12:30, they have a very good play corner and are reasonably priced - and good options for small eaters as well!

Have you signed up to our meet up page? We haven't had one for a while, but we're thinking of doing a gin and juice cocktail making evening in Truro -- if I can tempt you with that!

ps I live very close to central Truro so if you just fancy a coffee and some adult chat PM me and I will pop down the hill and join you. Oh and you can find us on Facebook too as MumsnetCornwall - a good place for reminders of events etc.

Thanks for getting in touch!

That is wonderful, thank you! Certainly looks like we have plenty to choose from. Looking forward to getting out and about to make us both some new friends having spent much of the last few weeks unpacking boxes and sorting out the house. Having to get out and make new friends is a bit of a scary prospect to be honest and not really what you expect to be doing at my age (42!) but then again I hadn't really expected to have my beautiful DD either.

Welcome to cornwall. We moved down 5 yrs ago and have a 4yr old, 2yr old and one one the way. We go to Pondu play group on a Tuesday morning, and Sunshine at the church in town on Wednesdays, both are very friendly.

If you fancy a cuppa at all then get in touch, I know what it is like mining down here... X

There is also Stay & Play for the under threes on a Monday afternoon during term time in Lanivet. It's run by Lanivet & District Under Fives and they are a friendly bunch, they have a Facebook page with more information.

I don't have an under three any more but if you are thinking of going along let me know and I'll come and have a cup of tea with you and introduce you to people. I left London four years ago and love a chance for city chat!
