Hi! DH and I are planning to move to the UK from France in time for my three kids to start school in September and we've pretty much settled on Bury St Edmunds.
The problem is that we will have a hard time getting the kids into school, especially my oldest who is due to start Year 7 then (the others will be year 5 and year 2). We've missed the deadline for year 7 admissions, and all the schools I've asked the council about are full for that year (the two feeder middle schools for County Upper, as well as King Edward and Thurston Community College). Council won't tell me where she would likely go, except to tell me that she will be allocated the nearest school that has a place...but from what I can see on rightmove a lot of the other schools are likely to be oversubscribed as well apart from maybe Ixworth Free School? But it's very hard to judge the quality of that school seeing as it's untested, and it seems most people are choosing not to go there as their first choice. Does anybody have any feedback about that school or any other schools that may still have room and be ok?
I'd really appreciate any advice or local info you may have, getting a bit desperate!
Thanks!
