Hi I'll be moving to the area this summer. Have a toddler and baby and don't know anybody. Just wondered if there is any local FB or other networks? Where I am currently there is an active group that was very handy for finding out about playgroups, selling kids stuff and just community chat. Thanks

Hi

I don't think there is anything quite that active. It may be time to start one though!!!

There is a FB selling and buying in Bromlry I think it is.

But I'm also member of a Crystal Palace Mums Group and haven't seen anything like that here.

Most mums here are in MGF though.

How old are your baby and toddler? I have a friend currently on mat leave with her second and she also has a three years old. Maybe you could meet up?

Hi, I live near Bromley South and am currently on maternity with my 2nd child. I also have a 3yo. I don't know of any online local groups but if you find one please let me know.
I have made friends through an nct group. Maybe you could join us?

Welcome to the area! We are sure you'll be very..... HforHappy when you get here. Feel free to browse our what's on for toddler groups and so on, and post questions to our Facebook page or Twitter accounts if there is anything specific you would like to know - we can always share with our community. Hope your move goes well!

Hi ladies,

I am a young first time mummy to be thinking about starting a home business.

Anyone on a similar wave fancy hanging out sometime?

Sorry didn't see the replies.. thanks all

Patry pardon my ignorance what's MGF?

I don't know any local mums to start a group. Hmm. Any of you ladies want to start one? Suggest a name and area to cover? Bromley south mums? Will that abbreviate to bullsh*t mums?

Thanks editor, I want to ask about preschool nursery and toddler groups. Just found out there aren't maintained nurseries (attached to primary schools in my area) so panicking slightly.

Pickle would love to join your when there. I have 7mo and 22mo. Sadly i'll only have a couple months back b4 maternity ends. Same for your friend Patry.

Feeling very nervous having no nct pals there etc.. I've not even been to the town centre!

May I ask what MGF stands for please?

I'm also near Bromley South with a baby and pre-schooler and would love a local group for meet ups.

MGF is a Facebook group called Mummy's Gin Fund. It has lots of members all over the south east not just Bromley and is very active with lots of members. Great for selling and recommendations for playgroups etc. I have to turn it off from my Facebook newsfeed though as there are posts every minute and it fills up my whole newsfeed! There is also a Facebook group called West Wickham mums which is more local to West Wickham/Hayes/Shirley/Bromley. That is a really nice group and great for more local stuff. Whereabouts are you moving to in Bromley?

Hi there. There is a facebook group called Bromley Babies which might be the sort of thing you are looking for. It is a pretty active group.

BromleyMama · 01/06/2016 17:24

I've tried to join this group but my request has been pending for over a week. Do you know if the group is still going?

Hforhappy · 05/06/2016 08:11

Hi, I haven't been able to join the fb group too.

Bromleymama - I too have a 2yo tot and 9mo tiddler; just moved in and don't know anyone, would you be keen to meet up? Im near Bromley South station and have endless questions - trying to find cleaner, a nanny share, preschool, nice church, playgroups and kids parks/places to go...

Hmm, Bromley Babies seems to be active. Maybe try to message them?

BromleyMama · 06/06/2016 10:53

Yes I'd be interested in meeting up. I only have my almost 3 year old at home on Tuesday's and Thursday's, but am pretty free most weeks.

Hello! I've recently moved to the area, we're in West Wickham. I've tried West Wickham mum's on FB, but the site seems to have closed recently, as there are no messages, no friends etc - am I right? Or just being a bit dense? Would love to know what local toddler activities to do at weekends, especially on rainy days (like today!). Visited local playgrounds, Layhams Farm shop, Bach to Baby (when it's on) and thinking of swimming as well - but are there any drop-in type places?

Emily, welcome to the area. I've been here since mid-last year, and have a 2.2yo DS.
Depending on how old your DC are, here are some good activities we've found:

  • soft play at most of the MyActive centres around the borough (Bromley Pavilion, Spa at Beckenham ,Walnuts at Orpington etc)
  • lots of toddler stay and play groups - download the Hoop app (free on app store) and you can set your area and look at the week ahead
  • the park on Croydon Road, Beckenham (near the Village Road car park if you need to drive) has just filled up the paddling pool area for the summer
  • Pavilion Leisure Centre has toddler swimming sessions on Wednesdays (I think) and Fridays (definitely), it's a bit cheaper to get in and they have a rhyming session and there's a teacher on hand supervising. The Pavilion website has a weekly pool schedule that you can look at to confirm that it's on
  • there's a toy library each Friday at the Salvation Army on Wellington Road, Orpington. It's 8GBP membership per year and then between 50p and 1.50 to hire toys for a fortnight. Fabulous if you don't have much room at home or a DC who changes their mind on something quickly!
  • most of the local libraries have weekly stay and play/reading/baby rhyme sessions, check the council website for more info

By the way, how was Layhams? I've been meaning to take DS. Is there anything outside to explore?

Report
Emily945 · 12/06/2016 20:48

Layhams is good for rainy days, as it's all indoors. It has a good play space with lots of toys in a secure area next to the cafe tables and they do rhyme and story time during the week, so quite active. There a few stables with horses outside, but they are not close by and there seems to be other business units around the back as well.

Hmmm, it's not the place I was thinking of then.

I saw a forest-y place on Facebook a few months ago and meant to save it to go when the weather improved but lost the post! Grrr, it looked really good.

AussieMumInBromley · 01/07/2016 08:52

Hmmm, no, I don't think so. It was on one of the local facegroup pages and I said to my friend that we should check it out one day but I didn't save the link.

Thanks AussieMum, great post. We've just moved to Bromley South/Widmore two weeks ago. I have a almost-three year old son, and we'd love to meet up for soft play, if you or any others would like to meet too?
