Relocating to Northampton

Hi,

My husband and I are looking to relocate to Northampton to be closer to family in MK and Coventry. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant so aiming for somewhere with a nice community feel/baby groups etc. Good doctors surgery and potentially good schools. We will be renting and don't know the area at all. Houses we have seen so far are in Abington, Duston and East hunsbury but not really sure where is best. As I will be on Mat leave for nearly a year I would like to meet other mums so community feel and walking distance to nice parks etc are very high up on the list.
Any suggestions at all are most welcome!

Hi Allybel89.

I can't offer advice I'm afraid, as we're looking to relocate to Northampton too! We have a 2 year old son and need to move for my Husband's job.

We're off for a few viewings this weekend in Kingsthorpe which I've heard some nice things about. I was looking in Delapre as it looks lovely, but then it doesn't seem to have a great reputation :(

Good luck with your search!

We live on east hunsbury and I like it, I moved from duston. East hunsbury has two primary schools and two secondary schools close, you have a leisure centre and a virgin gym, an 18 hole golf course, a tesco extra which is a large store then a tesco express and few other shops within 5 mins of my house, you have doctors, dentists, playgroups etc.
another nice area is grange park and wootton fields, both fairly new and both nice places.

some parts of kingstorpe are nicer than others and I am not sure I would go for delapre.

let me know if I can give you any more info.

I agree with pink koala.

I would always suggest the villages rather than the town itself if you are not reliant on public transport.

Long Buckby is a good alternative as it has a mainline station that runs on the line between MK and Coventry. I love living there and the schools are fab
