Hi everyone!

I am in the progress of separating and I am thinking of moving to Liverpool from London with my 14 month old so . I don't know anyone there, but something tells me that I would be happy there?

Anyway, are there any good schools or areas where I should look into? How is it to grow up in Liverpool? I am originally from Germany, will I understand a word? :D

Thank you!!!!

Wilkommen! (I got that right, didn't I? I only have very, very, very basic German! Blush) We're not as incomprehensible as you might think - I think it depends on age and how much alcohol has been drunk...

We're very friendly. I've heard Liverpool described as quite European in attitudes towards children compared to the rest of the UK. No-one will bat an eyelid if you're out with children in a restaurant and children are welcome pretty much everywhere. I don't get any odd looks if I'm out with mine past bedtime. Saying that, I wouldn't try taking them to a pub at night. Wink

Area-wise, north and south Liverpool are quite separate. I'm from north Liverpool so I know those areas best. Crosby is good, so is Formby. Both are relatively expensive compared to other areas though. If you want to live slightly further out, there's Maghull, or even Ormskirk. Ormskirk is in a different county but is about thirty minutes on the train from Liverpool City Centre. I went to school there so I might be a bit biased, but it's nice.

Oh, and I'm sorry about your separation. One thing you should bear in mind is that we're a bit awkward to get to from London on the train, if you need to get to and from there. There's a few different connections.

There is definitely a direct train very regularly from Liverpool to London, it takes around two hours and is pretty easy!
I'm in South Liverpool, where would be good for you really depends on what it is you want? We've pretty much every option here.City centre location, quiet leafy suburbs, village type suburbs, close to beautiful beach? There's plenty of good schools about too, it's a brilliant place to bring up kids, always so much going on so easy to meet new people too :)

My apologies about the train - that's news to me! Shows you just how often I venture south. Grin
