Thinking of moving to East Kilbride

I'm thinking of moving from Glasgow southside flat to East Kilbride with hubby, 3-year-old son and baby bump due in January. I would be interested in reading anyone's views on the positives and negatives of the area for families], the schools and which are the best areas to look in. Thanks in advance!Smile

Stewartfield G74 seems most desirable area.
You can walk to village, and two primary schools walkable.

Lyndseyfield at opposite side of ek cheaper, but seems far out and will need drive everywhere

Well, it's all dependant upon budget, whether you drive or require public transport.

Stewartfield and Lindsayfield are both newer developments but there is very little in the way of amenities including public transport. So if you need to get the bus to work- be aware of this!

The village, east mains and west mains are all popular as they are near to all the town centre's amenities, swimming, gyms and the train station. It does tend to be more expensive.

Calderwood and St Leonards are two of the nicer old estates, there's good streets and bad but on the whole there's lots of green space and both are well served by the bus route.

I've lived in the Murray before but it was a bit too lively for me at the weekend, Greenhills used to have a poor reputation but now has lovely new housing developments so might be on the up.
