Hi,
We are looking at buying a house in trumpington Meadows new contruction - 4 bedroom house. Anyone already lving there give your opinion about the location and driving into city? My daughter school is in bateman street and I have to drive (to be able to get to work after that) via trumpington road every morning (peak hour). Any info about daily commutes and traffic?

in general if you could share how is the experience to live in trumpington meadows?

Thanks

By car Trumpington Meadows to Bateman Street will take ages at peak time. But you could cycle it in less than 15 mins, even going at DD's pace. I used to cycle from Trumpington park and ride to Tennis Court Road and it took me about 12 mins.

Agree that driving is not ideal. The Newtown area (around Bateman St) is a number of narrow and one-way roads, and drop off by car to the several schools in the area blocks the roads and creates a hazard for anyone walking or cycling their children to the schools, as well as causing a problem for residents.

Where are you heading to work after dropping your daughter?

If you do drive, expect regular delays and for it to take an age.

It will almost certainly be quicker to cycle. Where will you be heading on to work? If it's within the city then you could cycle on to work. If it's further out of the city, then you might even be better to cycle to school and back home and pick up your car.

Lots of the schools around that area have minibuses which go from the various Park and Ride sites, including Trumpington P&R. Alternatively, I think the Trumpington Park and Ride bus stops outside the Botanic Gardens so that might be a possibility. Would almost certainly be quicker than driving. There are certainly lots of pupils waiting at the bus stop after school, so I'm sure she wouldn't be alone.
