Hi everyone,

I've just moved into the area - just outside of Windermere and wanted to say hello. I've two kids - one two year old and one twelve year old and work full time running my own business. I don't know a soul up here yet but looking forward to making some new friends. :)

Hi and welcome!

How are you settling in?

We have been here just over a year.

Good luck, hopefully you will love it around here x

Hi, welcome to Cumbria. Smile

zowie44 · 13/09/2015 19:31

Thanks for the replies and the nice welcome. I'm settling in okay so far, kids seem fine at school and nursery and I've ventured out a bit and met a few people around where I live. I'm going to join a few classes next week and looking forward to that.
It's so beautiful here - everywhere we go I keep taking pictures. I'm sure I'm driving my family mad but it's just so pretty! I keep thinking we're on holiday LOL. I hope it stays that way! x

All the scenery is so beautiful isn't it, it changes with the weather and never fails to impress me!

What classes are you thinking of joining? I keep meaning to do the same but haven't committed to any yet.

Enjoy exploring x

Hi Helloall1, so far, I'm toying with a variety of classes.
There's a yoga class I fancy and a zumba class. I'm also interested in finding an art class of some kind and would love to start up a book club. To be honest, the plan is to just give it a go and if I don't like it to find something else! Have you tried any classes at all in the area? x

I have looked at Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, they are enrolling from next week. Lots of different arty things on offer, from painting to jewellery making. They also do yoga, languages etc.

I tried Zumba in Windermere, but I was rubbish at following the instructor haaa!!

There was a book club organised on here a while back, but I'm not sure it took off. I'm up for joining one though.

There are quite a few classes at my local leisure centre but I'm too much of a wimp to go on my own Confused

X

I looked at the Brewery Arts Centre, spoilt for choice on what to do there and the Zumba class in Windermere is the one I'm thinking of going to - sod it if I can't follow the moves! I'll be the one at the back, red in the face. :)
What's the leisure centre near you? If it's not to far from me we could try something together? Can you send private messages on this? I've no idea how it works!

Hi :-) We're moving to Windermere soon and I don't know anyone (!) Was just wondering how your eldest is finding school? We are visiting at the end of this month to have a look at the Kirkbie Kendal and St Katherines and the Lakes school just outside Windermere, it would be great to hear about any of the schools from anyone who has kids there. Hope you have settled well :-)

zowie44 · 12/10/2015 13:39

Hello Hugsnsmiles,

Our eldest loves the Lakes School. It's only small compared to his last one but he really likes that. He's joined several after school clubs and is auditioning for the school play. We find it great as well, good newsletter and lovely teachers. He's made loads of friends and comes home saying how pleased he is to be there. We loved it from our first visit and had heard that it was a lovely school so didn't go to visit St Katherines, but I think all the schools have good reports - I think it depends on your children are, if they would like a smaller or bigger school. Early days yet as he's still only in his first term, but that's how we're finding it so far. If you want any more info on the area send me a PM. Hope that helps :) x

Hi Zowie :-) that's great to hear, the headmaster called me to make the appointment and he sounded lovely, it's great to have you confirm the feel I got from the school by talking to him.
