The Art of Lauren Child: Adventures with Charlie and Lola and Friends
18 July – 6 September, 10am–5pm (house and exhibition open at 11am)
It’s 15 years since Lauren Child created her award-winning illustrated story about a little sister called Lola who will ‘not ever NEVER’ eat a tomato, and her brother Charlie’s highly imaginative efforts to change her mind. Lauren is now one of the most popular and successful author and illustrators of all time, with worldwide sales of over three million and huge critical acclaim.
Your chance to see original artworks
This summer, Lauren will be exhibiting 50 original art works from her own personal collection - including many that have never been seen before - in the gallery at Mottisfont, Hampshire.
Alongside the illustrations are objects that helped inspire the stories, such as Lola’s pink milk glass, Lauren’s sketch books and one of the original sets from the Princess and the Pea.
A family trail designed with Lauren takes children on an action-packed adventure around the estate whilst on selected weekends there are themed activities.
You will also be able to enjoy a sneak preview of the illustrations for Lauren’s new book to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Charlie and Lola, entitled One Thing, which is published this autumn.
The Art of Lauren Child: Adventures with Charlie, Lola and Friends runs from 18 July to 6 September, 10am–5pm (house and exhibition open at 11am), normal property admission charge only.
Themed activity weekends: 18 & 19 July, 8 & 9 August, 22 & 23 August.
