Moving from Wimbledon to Gerrards X/Beaconsfield

Hi, we are considering moving to GX or Beaconsfield from Wimbledon and I wondered whether you could give me any advice or reassurance? We have an 8 year old girl and 2 year old boy. Today I saw a really nice house in GX, but I don't feel I know enough about the area. It seems that many people send their children to private schools and then aim for a grammar school. Is this a good idea? Would I be likely to find a place at a private school for year 4 this September? Are there opportunities to do things like swimming lessons, tennis, art - the usual stuff my kids would do in Wimbledon? Is there an active community and is it friendly and family oriented? Is one place better than the other? Sorry, my head is swimming with questions and concerns about making the break from London. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

we will be sending our little one at High March and we were given the place just few weeks ago, worth asking, they are very nice and respond very quickly. We are also moving to Beaconsfield, good luck with your move

Thank you Azzuro. I have just been ringing the local schools. We are going for second viewings on two properties tomorrow and are hoping to get one of them. Are you moving from London? Good luck with your move!

We are moving from a little village in Surrey but before having children we lived in Richmond and know Wimbledon very well (and love it), we will be renting first while arranging the sale of our property in Surrey, at present we are bound to Beaconsfield for the school (we could have possibly be able to get a space in a local state but could not face the unknown and high March is pretty good, they have a spinning pool on site btw)
Did you like Beaconsfield more than GX or vice versa? BS is so expensive for a 4 bed detached in a nice area, we really do not know GX but got told is lovely, just smaller than BS, good luck with the properties viewing!

hi there, just did a general search and this interested me.

We are looking to move too and wondered had you bought in these areas in the end?
We are having a hard time deciding where to live. (currently in eastcote,, middlesex) We want to meet characters too. so a fun vibrant town would be wonderful.
