Killing time in Ipswich

I wonder if anyone can make any suggestions. We are going to a funeral in Ipswich crematorium next week with our 6yo and 3yo. The funeral is at 3 and we are coming from London, so to avoid worrying about being on time and make it a more pleasant experience for the kids I am thinking we should come earlier in the day and find somewhere for lunch and a playground or something. Can anyone suggest good places to go? Many thanks.

Christchurch park is lovely and quite close by to Ipswich crematorium. The park has a good children's play area and there is cafe at Christchurch mansion don't know what sort of food they do though.

Thank you very much - that looks nice and close. Unfortunately the weather is forecast to be miserable on Thursday so I think we will need to find an indoor plan. Does anyone know the Mermaid pub or the Punch and Judy, or anywhere else with an indoor play area?

There is a pub at cardinal park which I think has an indoor play area, I am sure that is a punch & Judy pub. Cardinal park is where cineworld is plus loads of restaurants.

Hi there, I am, Angela the Local Editor of this site, and a warm welcome to the Mumsnet Suffolk. Sorry to hear that you have a funeral. But yes Christchurch Park was my first thought too as it's got great swings and a cafe and ice cream stand. If it's raining you could go into Christchurch Mansion which is within the park and free entry. It's stuffed with Gainsborough and Constable paintings and very interesting artefacts for kids plus a nice cafe. Good luck with it all. x
