How easy is it for a mum to find a job after taking a career break to bring up a family?

This probably depends on whether you are looking for a full or part-time job. I have worked part-time since my boys were a couple of years old, moving home (and thus jobs) several times. There simply are less part-time positions, so there is less choice with a fair bit of competition as they are sought after. Also, having two children I found that many jobs did not pay enough to cover my child care costs. For this reason I did not go back for work proper until my older boy was in primary school (reducing the cost of child care). On the plus side, most employers are pretty good, offer childcare benefits and/or a fair bit of flexibility. Also, I think the job market has really started to pick up recently. So, I think if you really want to work you should be able to find something, but it might take a little longer if it's part-time. And it just really depends a lot on what you are after and what qualifications or experience you have, not much different to pre-children.
Good luck! Let me know if I can help with anything.
