We have recently moved from Scotland to England and I am looking for a qualified primary school teacher to tutor my children (9 and 10 years old). Any recommendations would be much appreciated? We live in the Lower Earley area. Thanks.

I can highly recommend Chloe Keljarret at Top Hat Tutoring. She is better qualified in English than most English teachers and has an excellent reputation locally.

Positive Children 4 Real (PC4R) is a non-denominational not for profit children and young persons’ Community Group in Bracknell. It consists of a holiday club and a Homework club. PC4R seeks to develop the creative and cultural relationship between the UK and African children in the diaspora and also aims to improve children’s educational attainment. Children use arts and craft or expressive arts such as African dance & Songs as an important tool to build skills and develop confidence, especially for young people.

Positive Children 4 Real Project (PC4R) is registered with Ofsted, the Bracknell Forest Play Development department, the Reading and Bracknell Voluntary Action. We are fully staffed with DBS vetted Teacher, Child Practitioners and volunteers.

HOMEWORK CLUB

We offer a daily Homework club, from Monday to Friday, 3:15pm to 6pm during school terms. We are also providing minivan pick up services from local schools in the Bracknell area and surroundings only. The PC4R Home Work Club was designed to help pupils who have fallen behind in classes or who need a little extra help in understanding maths, English, reading & science, but all pupils/students are welcome. We welcome children from all ethnicities and social backgrounds, who need extra learning support to reach their goals. We use a learner-centred approach whereby learners decide what they want to learn.

In August 2014, PC4R created a pilot Homework project, using a 10 week model trial, starting with ten pupils. PC4R Homework club only consist of completing homework assignments, reading support, reading books and novels, help with math or preparation for standardized testing.

Several studies have found that low literacy skills are linked to educational underachievement, poverty, poor health and high unemployment. Here at the PC4R Homework club, we believe that numeracy and Literacy skills not only promote academic attainment, but boost children’s future potentials. We not only aim to boost the children’s ability to solve maths problems, but to support them with reading and writing. We also aim to strengthen our community, culture; achieving goals; gaining knowledge and recognizing potential. PC4R want to champion its members succeeding in today’s world.

HOLIDAY CLUB
The Holiday club operates only during the UK school holidays, opening hours are from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. We offer over 50 fun filled activities, a cross range of outdoor Sporting and Art programme, aimed at celebrating and breaking down social barriers through Children’s free movement, African expressive arts. In the past, during our open day, children showcased a range of African cultural dance, art performance, poetry and some indoor Creativity.

PC4R is fully constituted with approved Child Protection and Equality Policies in place. We currently operate in Reading and Bracknell areas, and work in partnership with some Local Stakeholders. The PC4R Project is run by elected Trustees, who in turn, have powers to appoint paid Holiday Camp Workers, to run the Children and Young persons’ activities over the school holidays period and daily during the Homework session.
